Carole Ann Boone meets Ted Bundy

The story started in 1974 — long before Carole Ann Boone became Ted Bundy’s wife. Carole and Ted were working in the Department of Emergency Services in Olympia, Washington, when they met each other for the first time. It sounds like a normal office relationship, right? Sadly, no.

According to 'The Only Living Witness: The True Story of Serial Sex Killer Ted Bundy' Carole Ann Boone immediately liked the man. The woman recalled:

I liked Ted immediately. We hit it off well. He struck me as being a rather shy person with a lot more going on under the surface than what was on the surface. He certainly was more dignified and restrained than the more certifiable types around the office.

Bundy certainly gained Boone’s trust as they became close friends.

When Bundy was arrested in Florida, Boone moved to the Sunshine State to be closer to him. Bundy was imprisoned for a series of murders, but this didn't stop Carole Ann from falling in love with him.

Carole Ann Boone hasn't given many interviews, but this short video offers some fascinating insights into her life at that moment.

Carole Ann Boone becomes Ted Bundy’s wife

Carole Ann seemed to be loyal to Ted. Once she said:

Let me put it this way, I don’t think that Ted belongs in jail. The things in Florida don’t concern me any more than the things out west do.

Their relationship was very intimate at that moment. The evidence of their love was in Boone’s documented visits, which were romantic in nature. Although this wasn’t allowed, Carole Ann Boone revealed that one of the guards was “real nice” and turned a blind eye to what they were doing together.

To make things more twisted, they got married right in the court. In 1979, Carole Ann testified on Bundy’s behalf as a character witness and they declared that they were a married couple. Watch the video to see that crazy moment.

After their marriage, Boone visited Bundy in jail very often, and she even smuggled in drugs for Ted.

Ted Bundy’s daughter, Rose Bundy

There was another even more shocking twist of Bundy and Boone’s love story. They had a child together!

Carole Ann Boone got pregnant and gave birth to a tiny baby named Rose in October 1981. But how was it possible? Although marital visits weren’t permitted in Bundy’s prison, they managed to conceive a baby. As it turned out, it wasn’t difficult to convince the guards to turn a blind eye to their activities. Boone recalled:

After the first day they just, they didn’t care. They walked in on us a couple of times.

Carole Ann Boone believed that Ted Bundy was innocent. The main reason was that that man insisted publicly, and to her, that he was innocent.

However, when Ted Bundy started approaching the date of his death sentence, he changed his mind. Carole Ann was obviously terrified by Bundy’s confession.

According to his lawyer Polly Nelson’s book 'Defending the Devil: My Story as Ted Bundy’s Last Lawyer', Boone felt “deeply betrayed” and was “devastated by his sudden wholesale confessions in his last days.”

What happened to Ted Bundy's wife, Carole Ann Boone?

Carole Ann Boone divorced Bundy in 1986 and then the woman moved to Washington. According to an old People report, she hadn’t visited her ex-husband for two years before his death in 1989. Ted Bundy tried to call her on the day of his execution, but she didn’t answer the call.

What happened to Ted Bundy's ex-wife since the divorce remains a mystery. No one has any idea where she and her children are. After what she’s been through, being completely manipulated by a serial killer, it makes sense that the woman wants to keep a low profile. Some people claim that Carole Ann Boone already died, but this version wasn't confirmed.

One thing is certain: Carole Ann Boone and Ted Bundy had one of the craziest love stories even in criminal history.
