Demi Moore Opens Up About Her Self-Destructive Past And “Divine Intervention”

October 31, 2018

Demi Moore belongs to the type of celebrities whose fans are more interested in their personal life, rather than professional success. She achieved the peak of her career in the late 1990s and early 2000s, although in recent years the actress has also been filming a lot. Nevertheless, the public has always been interested in her off-screen life more than her various roles in movies.

One of the most discussed topics in Demi’s life was her painful and tumultuous marriage with Bruce Willis, with whom she welcomed three daughters. The spouses were deeply in love, yet at the same time, has their fair share of relationship problems and argued over the tiniest issues. Nevertheless, after the divorce, the actors remained friends and now raise the children together.

When Demi married Ashton Kutcher, her personal life became the target of constant debate again. They seemed very harmonious together. Moore’s young partner quickly became popular and even after their divorce, he devoted a lot of time to his family, apparently maintaining good relations with his ex-stepdaughters.

However, Moore perceived this period with difficulties: it was challenging to live through the breakup with Kutcher. She had even reportedly resorted to rehab to fight her ensuing addiction and eating disorder. After treatment, Demi reconciled with her daughters and returned to a normal life.

Although Moore and her family preferred not to talk about the crises in the actress’ life, she has recently opened up about her struggles and journey to improving herself.

On October 27, accompanied by all her daughters, Demi took part in a charity evening organized by the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, a non-profit organization that helps women fight against drug and alcohol addiction. Moore looked fabulous in a trendy oversized suit and was awarded the Woman of the Year.

Demi mentioned about her most painful periods in her acceptance speech.

I had absolutely no value for myself and this self-destructive path, it very quickly led/brought me to a real crisis point. And it wasn’t clear at the time the reason. Maybe it was divine intervention.

Two people who Demi barely knew had stood up for her and presented her with an opportunity:

In fact, it was more like an ultimatum…unless I was dead, that I better show up. They gave me a chance to redirect the course of my life before I destroyed everything. Clearly, they saw more of me than I saw of myself. And I’m so grateful because without that opportunity, without their belief in me, I wouldn’t be standing here today.

Her first serious crisis shook the actress’ life back in the 80s; she led a rather reckless partying youth that had serious consequences. Nevertheless, she managed to cope with the fierce impulses with the help of two special people who saw true value in her. Unfortunately, Moore didn’t mention who it was. Apart from that, it is reported that she also had some addiction problems during her marriage to Bruce Willis, but she also managed to free herself from those issues.

Harmful addictions are all too common in the celebrity world. Many stars gradually reveal their secrets and show that life always has a turning point when you need to pull yourself together and correct your current path. Their stories aren’t the exceptions. There are a lot of people around us who have managed to direct their lifestyles into the right way by coming to terms with the gravity of the situation and harnessing the necessary willpower.
