Armpit Care: Underarm Masks Are A New Skin Trend For Beauty Routine

July 15, 2019

Armpits have been in the spotlight for several years now. Basic care for them used to consist of obligatory hygienic procedures, like shaving and using deodorant. But lately, this part of the body has become a subject of heated debates. For example, should women remove hair there? Fans of body positivity and gender equality, for example, don’t think they do. There’s also been a new trend: dyeing armpit hair in bright colors. And then another one: detoxing.

Many cosmetics manufacturers started to focus on products with the most natural formulations. Deodorants and antiperspirants don’t always cope with what they are supposed to do: eliminating the unpleasant odor and blocking perspiration, respectively (although there are 2-in-1 solutions). But this is no longer a problem due to armpit masks.

Such products have several functions at once: detox and skin care (cleansing, nutrition, and hydration). Why does it make sense? Due to the anatomical structure, armpits are the places where sweat and bacteria accumulate. Antiperspirants are able to block perspiration at the cost of clogging the pores. But at the same time, there are many lymph nodes that should remove toxins from the body.

How can we help them?

  1. Mechanical cleansing, not only regular washing but also exfoliation of dead skin helps cleanse the pores.
  2. A healthy diet with a high content of cucumbers and citrus helps to eliminate toxins.
  3. Waxing instead of shaving is another way to get rid of dirt in the pores of the skin.

We all differ, and so does our body aroma and sweating. Masks for underarms provide skin care and contribute to the elimination of “by-products” that also cause odor. This product is also very easy to use. While taking a bath or shower, spread the composition over the armpits, leave for 10-15 minutes, and rinse thoroughly with running water. It is enough to detox your armpits 2-3 times a week, and you can prepare the miracle mask on your own.

1. Clay and coconut oil

Mix cosmetic clay (bentonite) and coconut oil in equal parts. A single tablespoon of each ingredient should be enough for one procedure. If the skin is very dry, you can replace coconut oil with argan.

2. Clay and apple cider vinegar

You will need 1 tablespoon of bentonite (clay), 1 teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar (optional, you can do without it), and 1-2 teaspoons of clean filtered water.

3. Honey-based mask

Mix honey, oatmeal (or crushed flakes without additives), and baking soda – 1 tablespoon each – to get a homogeneous paste. It is convenient to apply and remove the mask with a spoon. Don’t forget to carefully wash it with water afterward.

You can buy ready-made compositions for armpit detox. But, it is important to pay attention to the contents, just like in home-made. Masks based on activated carbon have good detoxifying properties. Soda can irritate sensitive skin. Remember that homemade masks help cleanse and tone the armpit skin, while off-the-shelf masks facilitate the transition to natural deodorants.

For active detoxification, a daily application during the first week is recommended. It is important to keep in mind that each product has its own purpose. Do not use armpit masks on any other areas of the body.
