Tragic stories of anorexic models

Unfortunately, there are many well-known models among the victims of the dreaded disorder:

1. Isabelle Caro

The French model and actress passed away at 28. However, she managed to agree to pose for an awareness campaign against anorexia. Her distorted body looked shockingly thin on billboards and in newspapers.

2. Leila Pahlavi

The youngest daughter of the Iranian Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi and Empress Farah Pahlavi died when she was only 31. The former model, who collaborated with the brand Valentino, suffered from both anorexia and bulimia for quite a long time.

3. Luisel and Eliana Ramos

Uruguayan models and sisters died with a difference of six months. 22-year-old Luisel fainted on the way to the locker room during a fashion show. The official cause of death is a heart attack. It could have been provoked by anorexia since with a height of 5 feet and 9 inch, the model weighed only 97 lb.

Anorexia symptoms and treatment

The sooner the eating disorder is identified, the easier it is to achieve recovery. First of all, you need to be aware of the main symptoms:

  • significant weight loss;
  • constant concern with weight, diets, calories;
  • unwillingness to have a weight that meets the physiological standards of age, height, and body build;
  • exhausting workouts;
  • constant dizziness;
  • mood swings.

Even though an examination can show no health problems, the body will visibly lack nutrients for normal functioning. As a result, your body will be forced to slow down all processes to conserve energy, leading to serious medical consequences.

The treatment best works as a combination of the following:

  • psychotherapy;
  • safe and healthy eating habits;
  • drug treatment;
  • hospital treatment.

The severity of the disorder and the type of help must be determined by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, including a psychologist.

We believe that having learned about the tragic fate of these models, you will have enough sound judgement not to repeat their mistakes. Stay healthy and don’t neglect your body’s messages!
