Meghan Markle Breaks A Nearly Century-Old Royal Tradition By Choosing Her Baby's Stroller

March 28, 2019

If the British royal family is driven by anything, it’s their traditions, which date back decades or even centuries. There are very strict rules dictated by Queen Elizabeth II in terms of clothing, behavior, etiquette, and even the brands that royal members can use in their daily life.

One of those traditions includes the type of stroller in which royal mothers and fathers transport their little ones. It is a cart from the brand Silver Cross Balmoral, whose most budget version costs the ostentatious amount of $2261.

The Windsor family has been using this stroller since 1926. This includes Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, Charles, Edward, and even Kate Middleton who has been captured with the traditional stroller at the christening of her three children.

Another tradition broken by Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle seemingly came to the royal palace to break traditions and impose her style on each of her decisions, so it is not surprising that she decided to use a different stroller brand to transport her baby, who is expected to be born in a few weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess received a courier package from iCandy, a company that sells children's goods, at her home in Frogmore. It is a Peach stroller model which is completely different from what the British family is used to.

The baby carriage has a modern design and aeronautical technology that is valued at $1700. While it does not adhere to the royal tradition, Queen Elizabeth recognized the brand in 2016 for its quality and excellent performance.

This is how Meghan Markle yet again breaks an important royal tradition and makes it clear once more that she is governed by her own rules.
