By now, you must have heard that vinegar is a great product with applications all around the house. It also does a great job dealing with mold.

Just soak a cloth with a bit of spirit vinegar and wipe the inner walls and shelves of a wardrobe.

Blackboard chalk is also used to fight mold. This is because it's very efficient in absorbing moisture. Wipe the wardrobe and place an open chalk box inside it. It will become damp in about six months, but you can reuse it then - just leave the chalk under direct sunlight for a few hours before putting it back into the closet.

You can also cover surfaces with chalk to create a protective layer.

3. Bags of rice

To prevent mold in drawers, you can put a small bag of rice in it. The food is also great for absorbing moisture. Change it every 15 days.

Mold removers are available in supermarkets. But if you want to save a little money, you can make some at home. Aside from the cost benefit, it has a longer-lasting effect. Here's what you'll need:

  • granular calcium chloride;
  • two containers, one which can fit into the other, with a lid.

The good news is that this mix is very affordable. Follow this procedure to make home-made mold remover:

Step 1: Put one container into the other.

Step 2: Put two tablespoons of calcium chloride into the top container.

Step 3: Cover it with a paper towel, then close it with the lid.

When the bottom container fills with water, you will know that it is time to change the compound.
