Real-Life Angel And Actress Della Reese Is Finally Among The Heavenly Angels Now

This was not just a quote by this kind-hearted gospel singer and ordained minister but a statement of the values she lived by. Della Reese who passed on to glory in her California home on Sunday, 19th November was best known for starring in the TV series - Touched By An Angel.

Della Reese's Biography

Although she wasn't the first or only child of her mother, her other siblings didn't live with her mum, so she grew up as an only child. By the age of six, she was already singing in church and at the age of thirteen, she was hired to sing with Mahalia Jackson's group.

"My mother took Mahalia aside and looked into her eyes and said, `I've got a good child here. I wouldn't let her go off with everybody, but I trust you. I know you're a woman of God and I'm expecting you to bring me back a better child than I'm sending away with you,'" Reese told the Tavis Smiley Show.

Her career began as a singer with a hit single titled "Don't You Know" in 1959. Around 1960, she hosted her own talk show that ran for 197 episodes. According to New York Times Report, guests on her show included "George Burns, Ike and Tina Turner, Little Richard, Steve Allen, Tony Bennett, Ethel Waters and Gypsy Rose Lee." 

Around the beginning of 1975, she got into acting and was at it for decades. Some of her famous movies include Harlem Nights (1989), A Thin Line Between Love And Hate (1996) and Expecting Mary (2010). Between 1994 and 2003, she played the lead role of Tess in the religious supernatural drama - Touched by an Angel.

Delle Reese is also an ordained minister of God who is the founder of Understanding Principles for Better Living Church (UP Church). It started in her living room as a small group of eight believers seeking to gain more divine knowledge of how to bring about change in their lives.

The "Touched By An Angel" Series

The Touched by an Angel series is a religious supernatural TV series where Delle plays lead actress as Tess. It's about a Trio of angels traveling the earth and inspiring people at crossroads in their lives to turn to God.

Airing on the CBS network with the theme song "Walk With You" Touched by an Angel reached nine seasons with up to 22 episodes per season.
