Their memoirs are said to be the most anticipated books of 2018. Several publishers were mentioned to be participating in the bidding war. The list included Penguin Random House, which published Mr. Obama’s three previous books. HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster also make the list.

“Becoming”

A representative of the former First Lady has officially announced that the memoir is called “Becoming”. According to the rep, the memoir presents an 'unusually intimate' peek into the life and times of Michelle Obama.

Penguin Random House eventually won the bid for publishing rights, and the book is scheduled for release on November 13. In addition, the memoir will be translated into 24 languages and launched all over the world simultaneously.

Bestseller in the making

Markus Dohle, CEO of Penguin Random House, said:

Becoming is an unusually intimate reckoning from a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

The Washington Post states that every memoir published by every First Lady since the start of the 20th century has made it on the bestselling list. In the same vein, Becoming is expected to do just the same and possibly break a few records.

Barack Obama’s memoir still in the works

No official date has been announced for the release of Barack Obama’s memoir. He is reported to have kept a journal while in the White House. And it is believed that this may provide a substantial amount of material for his book.
