About 600 people by now have received their invitations to the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The event holds on May 19 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be hosting guests at the reception. Prince Charles will also be hosting a smaller party of 200 guests at an evening reception for the couple.

Another slight to tradition

In what has become an all too familiar theme, the royal couple is breaking yet another tradition. They did give out 600 invitations but not every invitation extends to the spouse of the invited guest. Essentially, some married guests will be attending the wedding alone.

It is not unlikely that the couple chose this route because of their wedding venue. St George’s Chapel does have a limited capacity. Probably, their concern was fitting in guests in the small space and the discomfort it may pose.

One Twitter user offered this explanation:

They only have 600 seats to fit more than 600 very important people they would like to invite why invite the wife/husband you never met? Some are important enough for both to be invited others are not so they (the spouses) are skipped for the next one on the list.

A mistake on the cards?

While the wedding invitation reads Prince Henry of Wales (Henry is Harry’s official name), Meghan’s name reads Ms. Meghan Markle. But Meghan’s full name is Rachel Meghan Markle. Did someone make a mistake?

It is a bit weird since the Queen used Meghan’s full name when announcing her approval of the engagement. British etiquette expert explains that the Palace probably decided to use the name most people are familiar with, thus, Ms. Meghan Markle.

It seems like Meghan Markle is another Kate Middleton in work.
