December 8, 2017 13:25

The First Lady visited Texas a bit more than three months after Hurricane Harvey's attack. Melania Trump came to check on recovery efforts and show her support for people, many of whom still struggle with getting their lives back together after the terrifying hurricane strike.

Along with the Vice President Mike Pence's wife Karen, the First Lady met military officers and emergency staff who were the first to respond after Harvey hit the south border of Texas in August 2017. Land Commissioner George P. Bush and the first lady of Texas Cecilia Abbott also joined Mrs. Trump during her visit.

Recalling her visit in a post on social media, the First Lady said a special thank you to the Coastal Bend Food Bank, an organization that fights hunger through food distribution and educates people on nutrition.

Mrs. Trump also signed her message with an encouraging hashtag #TexasRebuilds.

After a meeting with Harvey's victims, Melania and her team made a stop at a local burger chain to grab some lunch. Many people in Corpus Christi were stunned to see the First Lady at such a regular place and rushed to post her photos on social media. Even the city's police department noticed this visit.

Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria caused a lot of damage in August-September 2017. Many cities still have a lot of work to do in order to recover from the destruction. Many celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez, and Beyoncé, as well as millions of people from across the world, joined their efforts in order to help the hurricanes' victims.
