Denise LaSalle was born as Ora Denise Allen in 1939 and adopted the stage name for her musical career. She worked mainly in American blues, R&B, and soul genres as a singer and songwriter. Because of her long-lasting and successful career, she was often referred to as the "Queen of Blues."
