Steve Irwin was an Australian zookeeper who made a career out of broadcasting wildlife territory and activities. While most people know him as a fearless TV host, there are some facts about him that may come as a surprise. Check them out in the video below.

Even though it had been nine years since her father passed away, Bindi Irwin was in tears when she paid a tribute to the late Steve Irwin during the finale of 'Dancing With The Stars' in 2015.

Her emotional words not only expressed her own sadness, she also brought the audience to tears with her dance performance. Bindi dedicated it to her late father.

Wildlife expert, Steve Irwin, popularly referred to as the 'Crocodile Hunter' died in 2006 after a stingray barb pierced his heart. He was 44.

Reactions to Bindi's tribute

It wasn't just the show audience that was moved by Bindi's speech. A few people shared tweets expressing how emotional the dance performance made them.

Steve Irwin's memory lives on

This was not the first or only time that Bindi chose to honor her late father. Earlier this year, the dancer and conservationist organized a Hollywood gala to support her family's conservation organization Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. Describing the purpose of the event, Bindi told PEOPLE:

The Steve Irwin Gala Dinner is dad’s event and I am so incredibly proud to continue his mission to have a real and powerful impact on our planet.

Clearly, the young woman has dedicated her life to honoring her father's legacy. We imagine that losing a parent at such a young age must have been very difficult. Bindi Irwin sure grew up to be a lovely, kind, and talented young lady that we bet her dad would have been proud of.
