What do we know about this incident?

In late November 1981, Hollywood actress (known for her roles in Rebel Without a Cause and West Side Story) went sailing around Catalina Island. The yacht called Splendour belonged to the star and her husband, Robert Wagner. There were two more people on-board, including the captain Dennis Davern and the pair’s friend.

During a short trip, the star disappeared and then was found in the water, off the coast. All three men who were on the yacht gave conflicting evidence. But after a two-week investigation, the cause of the death was recognized as an accident.

New details

In 2011, the captain admitted that, during the investigation in 1981, he supported Robert’s version and concealed certain circumstances of the night when Natalie died. As it turns out, the couple got into the fight on the deck. As Davern says:

It was really intense and got so bad that he went down to the cabin to check on them.

After that, the police took over, and a year later the official cause of the death was changed from "accidental drowning" to "drowning and other causes."

Prime suspect and the relationship between the two

Now the actor Robert Wagner is under investigation. New witnesses’ testimony draws a different picture of what happened on the yacht, but there are still no grounds for his arrest. And he refuses to speak to investigators.

We can never force him to talk to us. He has rights, and he can not talk to us if he doesn't want to.

The story of the death of Natalie is no less interesting than her life and relationship with Robert. In fact, their love story could be a Hollywood film script. They saw each other for the first time when she was just 14. Much later, they got married, but the marriage lasted only four years. Wood was at the peak of her career; she was admired, and her husband was jealous. They divorced but then remarried for the second time.

Their relationship did have issues because of Robert's temperament, but the couple were very fond of each other.
