Lizzie McGuire, a Disney Channel sitcom, was one of the popular series at the time. It premiered on January 12, 2001 and ended in February 2004, after 65 episodes. For Hilary Duff, who was the main and title character, the series served as her breakout role.
The show tells a story of a 13-year-old girl, Lizzie McGuire. She was shy, clumsy, and had a desire to join the league of popular students at her school. The episodes are mainly about her school life, family issues, and everyday teenage situations. There is also an animated alter-ego that pops out and expresses her feelings from time to time.
Then vs now: How the young cast members look like today?
She played Elizabeth McGuire, and people quickly fell in love with her shy, impulsive, and smart character. Since her days as Lizzie, Duff has gone on to explore her acting talents in both film and TV industries. She currently stars in the TV show Younger as the main character.
Her character, Miranda Sanchez, was one of Lizzie's best friends. Even though Vergara-Paras pursued acting for a bit after the show, her main passion was music. She released an album in 2003, where she was credited with writing six songs.
As Lizzie's other best friend, David 'Gordo' Gordon, was portrayed as intelligent, practical, and academically smart. Since playing the role of Reggie in Beautiful Loser in 2008, Lamberg has retired from acting.
Jake Thomas played the role of Matt, Lizzie's annoying younger brother. In the last few years, Thomas has had guest-starring roles in popular TV series, including NCIS, CSI: NY, Criminal Minds, House, and Secret Life of an American Teenager.
