Did you know? Only 1 out of every 10 dogs born will find a permanent home. And yet, so many dog owners continue to let their pets reproduce accidentally and intentionally without spaying or neutering them.

Why there are so many stray animals

This heartbreaking truth about dogs reveals why so many animals are homeless, but it isn’t why they end up in shelters. Most dogs who find a home in shelters wind up there because their owners give them up.

At last count, homeless animals outnumbered homeless people at a ratio of 5 to 1. In the US alone, the number of stray cats is up to 70million.

He adopted a dog and transformed her

But one man is determined to change all that. Rico Yudha Soegiarto found his beloved dog Hope after she was hit by a vehicle on the streets of Bali, Indonesia, and abandoned.

When he found her, she was skinny, had open sores and her skin was flaky from years of neglect while living as a stray dog.

Rico adopted Hope and nursed her back to health. He transformed her into an amazing husky and now he is urging everyone to adopt a stray dog.

He said,

If I can save a dog’s life, others can too. And trust me if you adopt a dog, that dog will love you more than anyone else.

But you really don't have to

Wondering how to help a stray animal? It turns out, you don’t have to adopt like Rico.

What you can do is:

  1. Donate to your local shelter.
  2. Volunteer your skills or time.
  3. Or you can try out bonding with animals by offering to give them a foster home.

And if you're still certain adoption is not your thing, you could encourage friends and family to do so or at the very least, help at adoption events. Good luck with that!
