In an interview with Celebrity Scoop in 2009, she shared a bit about how being a mother had affected her life and, in many ways, changed her perspective.

Motherhood has completely enriched my life and fulfilled a dream. The greatest challenges are trying to raise a kind, confident, enthusiastic, open minded, loving person! There are a lot of obstacles to that out there in the world today. Achieving those things are the greatest joys.

Eileen is married to actor and writer Vincent Van Patten. Together, they share three sons, Duke (25), Vince Jr. (22), and Jesse (18). The first two boys are from Vincent’s previous relationship. Managing a blended family can sometimes be an uphill task, but Eileen says she finds ways to make it work.

She shared some of the things she does with Closer Weekly in a recent interview.

I really worked at having his kids get to know me. We made the house fun, and I'm not against bribery! A main lesson for everybody is: Just be who you are and take chances. With kids that is the thing I am always saying.

Still, she added, “blended families aren't easy — you have to put the kids first, and we're all people with feelings and desires and needs”. Thankfully, relations between Eileen and Vince’s ex-wife are quite pleasant, and they both find ways to support each other and the children they still share.

And she has lots of help. Her husband Vince is quite big on family. She gave The Daily Dish in 2017 a little insider info on the kind of man Vince is away from the spotlight and around family.

He's a fantastic father. Very hands-on. Extremely hands-on dad. He's an all-around great person. I'm really lucky.
