"I Love Her, I Want To Make Her My Wife": John Cena Is Still Hoping To Marry Nikki Bella

John Cena and Nikki Bella were together for six years before deciding to go their separate ways. Their WrestleMania engagement last April after a tag team match win seemed like the start of a bright future, but all that is history now.

In a joint statement on Bella’s Instagram, the couple did not hint at any bad blood, as they decided to end their relationship. Cena shared a post late in the day with a meme from The Simpsons reading "WORST DAY EVER!".

There are suggestions that a somewhat ridiculous relationship agreement that Cena made Bella sign before she moved in with him may shed some light on what led to the separation just months before their proposed wedding.

Is he trying to get her back?

On Monday, John Cena sat down with hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford on the TODAY show to talk about his relationship with Bella and what led to their break-up. And he finally put an end to speculations in the media that he was unwilling to settle down.

There was an unfortunate set of circumstances where our relationship ended.

Cena confesses that he was particularly selfish at the start of their relationship and that may have contributed to Bella’s distress. Also, he says he probably was not the best communicator, and it is likely Bella had a hard time understanding his intentions.

I was hanging onto just of stubbornness — 'I won't have kids' — and it took a very strong look in the mirror for me to be, like, 'Why? This person is my No. 1, and it's something that's very valuable to her. Of course we can do this!'

As for the suggestion that he has moved on, Cena maintains that he still hopes to patch things up with Bella if she is open to the idea.

For anyone out there speculating on what I'm doing with my life now: I still love Nicole. I would still love to marry Nicole. I still would love to have a family with Nicole.

Fans can relate

Being in love and having to let go is never easy, and fans of Cena are particularly sympathetic to his plight.

It took a lot for Cena to speak his mind on television, just the same way it took a lot for him to propose to Bella last April. Who knows, maybe, there is a hope for him and Bella in the future.
