Long-standing tradition

Queen Elizabeth has a truly unique character. On June 18, she celebrated her 65th anniversary on the throne. During this long-reigning period, Her Majesty encountered many official and informal meetings as well as ignored some of the identities not welcomed by the royal family.

However, the one tradition that remained unbroken was the US presidents’ visits.

She met each of 11 American leaders during her ruling period: Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama.

Leaders' meeting

The only president out of the list is the current 45th American leader Donald Trump. Her Majesty didn’t ignore Donald for any reason, but his ambiguous political way of ruling seemed to postpone Elizabeth’s desire to meet Trump.

However, the US ambassador has recently confirmed – the American President will meet the Queen on July 13 with a working visit to Britain. Originally, the Trump’s arrival was classified as state visit but was later downgraded to a working one due to the fears of mass protests.

If Queen Elizabeth snubs Donald and cancels the meeting, she will break the long-lasting tradition she began decades ago.

Innocent joke

A few months later, Her Majesty made a delightful comment that soon turned into a hilarious joke. During her interview with British broadcaster Sir David Attenborough for a new ITV documentary, the couple was interrupted with a few airplanes circling around. The interviewer made a rhetoric remark, complaining about the air noise every time you want to talk. He didn’t expect the Queen to answer his comment in the following way:

— Why do they always go round and round when you want to talk.

— It sounds like President Trump or President Obama.

Hopefully, Her Majesty and the American President will eventually meet and discuss all the urgent topics they might need to improve the existing tension.
