We Miss The "Bam!": Rise And Fall Of Emeril Lagasse, Food Network's Biggest Chef Of Over 10 Years

Date July 30, 2019 09:55

Emeril Lagasse is an American celebrity chef who basically established Food Network that we know and love today. He's remembered most for his long-running show Emeril Live, but before that he was featured on numerous cooking programs, including Julia Child's hit series Cooking With Master Chefs.

And of course we could never forget Lagasse's iconic catchprases such as "Bam!" and "Kick It Up a Notch!"

Why did Lagasse suddenly vanish?

It came as a shock when Emeril Live got canceled in 2007. Reportedly, Food Network wanted a short break from Lagasse, which turned into a complete end of their collaboration.

Emeril tried to start new shows, including Essence of Emeril and Emeril's Florida, but they never found success.

In addition, Lagasse owned several restaurants throughout the US, which got hit by the recession. By 2014, the former Food Network star was practically broke and struggling to keep afloat.

Where is he now?

Fortunately, by 2016, Lagasse slowly got back on his feet and was able to open another restaurant.

He said in an interview with GQ that restaurants were his passion way before he found television, and so he wants to keep close to his roots:

What really makes my clock go is still the restaurants. I love people, I love being with my staff, I love learning together, I love making people happy with food.

So now, Emeril follows his passion and takes care of himself. The celebrity chef once told Men's Journal that he regularly works out and loves Pilates. We're glad to hear Lagasse is doing well!
