Jane Fonda, the legendary American actress, writer, and political activist, managed to combine her successful career with the family life: she was officially married three times and has three children, two biological and one adopted.
Ted Turner was Jane’s third and her last husband, they got married in 1991 and divorced in 2001. By the way, she calls him her favorite ex-husband.
But how is it possible to stay friends with ex-husband, and even call him favorite? Even though it sounds rather unusual, but Jane is really thankful for the opportunity to have Ted is her life. She has even revealed that he was the one who saved her from depression.
During one of her interviews, Jane said Ted’s great sense of humor literally saved her life:
I don’t have a funny bone, really. I come from a long line of depressives. What really changed it for me was spending a decade with [then husband] Ted Turner, who is hysterically funny and over the top. I got funnier because of Ted.… I let go a little bit more.
Despite all the misunderstandings and the divorce, Jane Fonda and Ted Turner managed to preserve good and trustworthy relations. By the way, she was one of the first people with whom Ted talked about his diagnosis – Lewy Body Dementia, and she keeps supporting her favorite ex-husband till these days.
Jane is a great example of a strong and wise woman, who doesn’t let emotions ruin her life, and can stay friends with ex-husband even after lots of hard life situations. She is so inspiring!
