In May, the sitcom star Roseanne Barr fell under heavy scrutiny after she tweeted a racist post targeting Valerie Jarrett, a former President Obama White House adviser.
The tweet, which compared Jarrett to an ape and suggested affiliations to the Muslim Brotherhood, stirred worldwide condemnation. Even though the actress deleted the tweet and apologized for it later, her post led to the cancellation of the hit show she's known for, Roseanne.
@ValerieJarrett i don't know if u saw it, but I wanted2 apologize to u 4 hurting and upsetting u with an insensitive & tasteless tweet. I am truly sorry-my whole life has been about fighting racism. I made a terrible mistake wh caused hundreds of ppl 2 lose their jobs. so sorry!— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) 30 May 2018
