Meeting Michael Jackson

Omer Bhatti met the pop icon for the first time in 1996, and they struck up a weird relationship.

When the singer died in 2009, Bhatti was photographed sitting with the Jackson siblings at the memorial service. They did not put out any official statement about Omer Bhatti’s paternity, but Jermaine addressed the press the day before the memorial saying this:

If Omer’s his son, he’s his son. We won’t deny it. We are going to give him the same love and care that we give Prince and Paris and Blanket. I can’t clearly say if he is Michael’s but I saw this kid around him.

Joe Jackson's 'proof'

The kid was allegedly the result of an affair between Michael Jackson and a Norwegian woman Pia Bhatti in the 80s.

And in interviews, before he died, the patriarch of the Jackson family, Joe, said Omer was Michael’s child.

Joe said he knew for certain without offering concrete proof:

He looks like a Jackson, he can dance like a Jackson. This boy is fantastic dancer -- matter of fact, he teaches dance.

Bhatti himself did not seem to have proof of his paternity. He was often photographed with the pop icon in the 90s and pretty much moved into Neverland.

Yet, he reportedly told The Sun around the time of Michael Jackson's death that he was desperate to do a DNA test that would prove he was a member of the Jackson family.

Strange claims by Omer and Paris

Since then, Bhatti has been distancing himself from claims that he and Michael Jackson were father and son, despite being seen by many as bearing a striking resemblance to the youngest son of the singer, Blanket.

In 2016, Paris Jackson called him 'her brother', but quickly clarified that it was simply a term of endearment while wishing him happy birthday. Nothing else has been said about him since then, and his paternity remains unresolved.
