In 1993 and 2005, Jackson was accused of pedophilia and acquitted on both occasions. For years the singer has been haunted by claims from alleged victims.

Painful personal stories from former proteges

But, this disturbing two-part documentary which has just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival tells an even more sickening story. It is causing a lot of people to be alarmed and ashamed of ever cheering for Jackson.

Amongst other things, the narrators claim the singer gave a young boy a piece of jewelry in exchange for inappropriate contact and staged a mock wedding on another occasion. The accounts in the film are so graphic and detailed, it has been labeled a horror film by people who have seen it.

One of the victims Robson told the crowd at Sundance about his response to critics:

I don't feel like there's anything I need to say to them except that I understand that it's really hard for them to believe. We can only accept and understand something when we're ready, maybe we'll never be ready, maybe we will. That's their journey.

The film will air on HBO and Channel 4, but the Jackson family is fighting back, insisting this is a cheap character assassination move.

The singer's nephew has urged his followers on Twitter to boycott Sundance.
