Behind The Scenes Of 'Grease': John Travolta Was Attracted To Olivia Newton-John In Real Life
Like the majority of relationships under the spotlight, friendships between Hollywood stars come and go. However, there are many celebrities that are supportive of each other's careers and personal lives. One of such duos is Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta.
Last year, the actress revealed that she had breast cancer. And Travolta was among the first to send love her way:
If we all put our intentions for her to get through this—I know her so well—she will feel it, and it will support her.
The two celebs rose to superstardom in 1978, after playing lovebirds in a high school film 'Grease'. And as their costar, Didi Conn, revealed in honor of the movie’s 40th anniversary, John was instantly attracted to the British-Australian singer.
The film told the story of Sandy and Danny who fell in love over summer and rekindled their romance in high school. But it didn’t take much acting for the duo to showcase their chemistry on screen.
Since the actors were older than the characters they were playing, Travolta and Newton-John stayed in role all day long. As a result, there was much improvisation and flirting behind the scenes.
You can find the result of such improvisations in the 40th-anniversary film edition. It highlights many bonus features, including a too-real alternative ending.
Instead of looking back while flying up into the sky, Danny pulls Sandy closer, and the two share a passionate and juicy kiss. But it wasn’t scripted!
As Conn said:
They weren’t acting at that moment, it was like he had his chance and he was going to take it. It was real, it really was.
It’s wonderful how the two still manage to keep in touch with another. They see, text, and talk to each other at least several times per year.
We hope Olivia will beat her condition!
