“Why do people write such things?”

Once two beautiful and powerful women, Oprah Winfrey and Julia Roberts had a candid talk during an interview for Harper’s Bazaar.

In the course of their conversation, Winfrey asked the Pretty Woman star about her attitude to people’s comments on social media. As you know, Roberts joined Instagram in June 2018.

Julia explained that her children had convinced her to do it. Then, Winfrey asked whether Roberts received offensive comments from haters (if she had some). The actress replied that she usually blocks such comments unless they come from someone of people she follows.

However, a case on her niece Emma Roberts' Instagram account made Julia felt hurt. Emma posted a photo with her aunt. The ladies were having tea and playing cards in a casual home atmosphere.

But after Emma posted the sweet shot on Instagram, Julia was shocked to get numerous negative comments about her appearance.

The number of people who felt absolutely required to talk about how terrible I looked in the picture - that I’m not aging well, that I look like a man, why would she even post a picture like this when I look that terrible!

Haters, stay back!

Roberts confessed she was surprised about her own reaction to such comments.

I’m a 50-year-old woman and I know who I am, and still, my feelings got hurt.

Julia told she was lucky to grow up in a different time than today’s children, who face bullying at schools and suffer from self-distrust on a regular basis.

As for the negative comments about her age, Roberts said she prefers staying natural and choosing not to have a facelift, which is totally unusual for a Hollywood star in her 40s.

I prefer to age naturally rather than go under the knife.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of haters on social media and there is nothing we can do about it.

Our advice to Julia Roberts is not to take offensive comments personally and stay neutral. Besides, there are much more kind and good people among her followers who love and respect Julia for her talent and grace.
