Katharine McPhee has some bad news for her fans just days after she announced her engagement.
Career high and engagement
McPhee, 34, who has been on a career high since her Broadway appearance on Waitress, shared news of her engagement to music producer, David Foster, just 2 weeks ago.
The good news came while the couple were vacationing in Europe. And now, she has announced to fans that her father has passed on.
Her father's death
Days before she informed fans of this development, she tweeted that she would be a no-show last weekend on Waitress as she had to fly back to LA for a family emergency.
I can’t believe I’m even writing this.... But it is with heavy heart that I share that my sweet sweet Papa left this earth yesterday morning. We as a family are completely heartbroken and devastated. He was my biggest fan, my biggest champion, always telling me to “Give em hell kid!” He was so kind and caring and made sure we knew how much he loved us. Not sure my heart will ever be the same. I’m so sad he missed my broadway debut. But when I return to the stage next week I hope he can watch it in peace and from up above. Thank you to all my friends who’ve been so loving and supportive these last 48 hours. I love you Papa. I already miss you so much. This hurts. 💔
And then, on Tuesday she made fans aware of her loss in a heartfelt Instagram post alongside a picture with her father.
McPhee told fans that her father had been her biggest fan. She had wanted him to witness her Broadway debut, but fate had other plans. Fans and stars close to her have continued to reach out in her time of need. Our prayers are with her.
