Chet Hanks speaks on battling his addiction
Chet Hanks is well-known not just as a son of great Tom Hanks and beautiful Rita Wilson, he is a talented actor himself.
On Tuesday, Chet talked to ET's Katie Krause about growing in a famous family, acting, and battling addiction. The conversation appeared to be very personal and emotional.
Chet revealed that for several years, he was struggling with substance abuse. He said:
There's a part of you that knows that you need to make a change but you can't really shut that door on your life and just move on to a new chapter.
What did help Chet defeat his demons? The news of becoming a father!
It was all about having a kid that gave me the motivation to be like, 'OK, I've had my time now, and I need to move on.’
Hanks Jr. welcomed his daughter, Michaiah, in April 2016 with girlfriend Tiffany Miles. Today, the star is clean and sober.
Of course, it’s not that easy to grow up in a celebrity family, and from time to time, Chet Hanks also felt that pressure upon him.
But at his darkest times, Hanks said his famous parents have been by his side, giving him the love and support he needed to move on.
They couldn't be more supportive. My parents have always been there for me and I'm really lucky.
Chet would be working with his dad for the first time in the upcoming movie Greyhound about World War II.
We have no doubt that the film will be something huge and can’t wait to see the famous father and son together on screen. Just a perfect match!
