Date July 4, 2018 16:03

There is no denying that Linda Hunt is one of the most recognizable faces on American television despite being over 70. For several years, she has been a major face on NCIS: Los Angeles, even bagging two Teen Choice Awards.

At just four-foot-nine, her screen presence makes her appear a lot larger and she has successfully played roles that many other women would find daunting. She is also openly gay and made history in 1992 when she won an Academy Award after playing male Chinese-Australian photographer Billy Kwan in The Year of Living Dangerously.

On Monday, the actress was hospitalized after she was involved in a car accident in Hollywood. Hunt was driving a BMW SUV at the time of the incident. Apparently, she was trying to make a left turn when she drove into a sedan that slammed into a Honda SUV.

Helpful bystanders were quick to respond, taking the stunned Hunt out of her car and placing her on a chair on the sidewalk. Paramedics and emergency service quickly arrived at the scene. Nobody was badly hurt, and eyewitnesses say that all the people involved received first aid on site.

According to TMZ, law enforcement officers confirmed that one individual was taken to the hospital. Although Hunt’s representative declined to comment on her status, she is believed to be under observation.

Meanwhile, fans of the show have expressed their concerns for Hunt on social media.

Besides appearing on over 200 episodes of NCIS, Hunt also lends her voice to other projects like video games and animated movies. She was the voice of Grandmother Willow in Disney's Pocahontas. Like her fans, we hope she recovers fully from the accident.
