He Ran For The Fame: Michael Moore Shares His Thoughts About Donald Trump's Candidacy

Film director Michael Moore has always been vocal in his criticism of President Donald Trump, so much so some people have wondered if Moore’s outspokenness is based on personal issues. Donald Trump and his team were quite worried in 2016, when the controversial director released his documentary, Michael Moore in Trumpland.
Now, the director has taken his antagonism for Trump up a notch. He recently announced the release of a new documentary, Fahrenhiet 11/9. The film highlights President Trump’s time in office from Moore’s perspective, and will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 21.
Why did Trump run for President?
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moore said Donald Trump had other motives when he announced he was running for President of the United States. According to Moore, it was actually a publicity stunt gone wrong.
He'd been talking about running for President since 1988, but he didn't really want to be President. There's no penthouse in the White House. And he doesn't want to live in a black city. He was trying to pit NBC against another network, but it just went off the rails.
Trump was the star host of The Apprentice, and Moore claims Trump had a beef with NBC, who, he claimed, were paying Gwen Stefani more to co-host The Voice on the same network. Also, Moore says Trump was jealous of Stefani and wanted to prove a point that he was more popular than her.
Moore further added that Trump decided to run for President when his fanbase cheered him on, even after NBC yanked Trump off The Apprentice.
Michael Moore..you've know about this all along...shoulda come out earlier...yup ..would have been so much easier to understand @MMFlint— K N (@karnicholson) September 6, 2018
I thought as much when he was running and not so sure he still wants to be President. He sure acts like he impeached for sure. Total loser!— Maggie12161773 (@maggie12161773) September 6, 2018
Some people think Moore may be right
Moore’s interview is getting a lot of attention on social media, and some commentators are wondering why he did not share this sooner.
Based on trump and his obvious lying and groping habit, I totally believe this. Trump is just petty. That’s it. Awkward.— Karoshisan (@pranapuppy) September 6, 2018
However, one Twitter user has suggested Moore may only be using the Trump situation to his advantage, as he claims Moore has a tendency to throw fuel on burning fires.
I despise Trump as much as the next guy. But I grew up with Moore, and although much of his material is researched, he does have a knack of tossing in a conspiracy or two for effect.— Ethan Lahring (@InquirReckoning) September 6, 2018
He's not the brightest bulb in the oven.
In spite of all the speculation, it is likely the only person with first-hand information about the President’s intentions for running for the President in the first place. And judging from his general attitude towards questions he does not like, we doubt anybody will ever know if Moore is right.
