Trump's Star Is Dead! A Vandal Tears The President's Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame Apart With A Pickaxe

Date July 26, 2018

In 2016, just weeks before Donald Trump emerged as the winner of the Presidential Elections, a bold anti-Trump protester decided to show the world just how much he disliked the Republican candidate. At about 5:45 AM, a man, identified as Jamie Otis, used a sledgehammer and a pickaxe to destroy the star.

Although the damage was obvious, he was unable to remove the star from the ground without attracting attention to himself. He told Deadline that he planned to auction off the star and raise money for women who accused Trump of sexual assault.

This morning, another man did what Otis was unable to do in 2016. Witnesses alerted police officers to the location of the star on Hollywood Boulevard near Highland Avenue. On arrival, the police discovered that the Trump star was smashed to bits.

Eyewitnesses say a man with a pickaxe, which he has previously concealed in a guitar case, was responsible for the vandalism. According to NBC4, an eyewitness, David Palmer, said he saw the man smashing the star and actually confronted him.

I'm like, 'Why are you hitting that star? What did Donald Trump do to you? Then he went around the corner and I think he left'.

Workers later in the day cleaned up the debris from the damaged star. Neither President Donald Trump nor the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame, have commented on the vandalism or plans for repair.

In the past, several individuals and organizations have called for the removal of Donald Trump’s star for a variety of reason, but the Chamber of Commerce insists that it stays. This is by far the most damage the star has received.

Followers of the incident are still reacting to the news, with pro-Trump commentators blaming anti-Trump parties and elements. However, some other observers see the vandalism as a good thing and a reflection of American opinion about President Trump.

While many people still believe that getting a star on the Walk of Fame is a big honor, the truth is that it is actually a paid-for honor. Individuals or organizations submit a nomination for the award to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and eventually, shelve out as much as $40,000 that covers the installation and the maintenance of the star.

If your guess is as good as mine, President Trump’s star will get fixed in no time. However, there is no telling for how much longer, as $40,000 will probably run out someday.
