Sam Elliott Was Once Told To "Fix" His Husky Voice, And It's The Most Outrageous Thing We've Ever Heard

It's impossible not to love Sam Elliott. Being one of the manliest actors in Hollywood, with his deep southern drawl and incomparable presence on the screen, he makes women swoon, and men respect him.
Despite his father's disapproval over his career choice, Elliott found success in acting and quickly solidified his status as one of the most successful western actors.
Best known for his impressive mustache and piercing gaze, Sam is perhaps most recognized for his iconic husky voice. But you'll be surprised to find out that a talent agent once pressured Elliott to change his voice to make it big in the film industry.
Outrageous tip for success
During his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Sam Elliott revealed his encounter with one of the talent agents earlier in his career. One of them didn't like Elliott's deep voice, so he decided to give him some advice:
If you're going to stay in this town, you gotta fix that *censored* voice, you gotta take some voice and diction lessons and get rid of that Southern accent.
Luckily, Sam didn't take this tip seriously and never saw that man again. Today, we can confidently say it was one of the stupidest ideas anyone has ever had. Can you imagine the world without Elliott's voice?!

I'm not going to say the best part of my day will be listening to Sam Elliott's voice as I transcribe him, but it'll be hard to top.— Matt Prigge (@mattprigge) June 6, 2017
