But constant work on television requires the majority of an actor's time, and Scott Bakula learned it first hand.

Finding a perfect balance

During Bakula's time working on Quantum Leap, he was married to his first wife, Krista Neumann. They divorced in 1995, and the actor said he realized their marriage ended due to his constant work.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Scott noted that he was "hardly ever home", and the crushing experience of the collapsing marriage stayed with him for many years.

When Bakula met his second wife, Chelsea Field, he knew that some career sacrifices had to be made for him to spend time with his family. He said:

I had it put in my contract that I would be done every Wednesday at 6 so I could be home for dinner. And I made time to coach my sons’ soccer and baseball teams.

The actor has two children, Cody and Chelsy, from his first marriage, and shares two sons, Owen and Wil, with Chelsey Field.

Combining active work and personal life isn't easy, but Scott and Chelsey make it work.

We work hard to stay present in the relationship. Chelsea is amazingly present and has taught me a lot about relationships and spirituality. I feel incredibly lucky to have the career and family I do.

Working parents

Bakula's wife, Chelsey Field, is an actress as well. She starred in numerous years during the 80s and 90s, but nowadays she's taking it easy.

Field occasionally features in standalone episodes of various TV shows, and sometimes even cameos in Scott's NCIS: New Orleans.

Balance in every aspect of life is very important and looks like Scott and Chelsey have found it.
