"They're Our Children": Hugh Jackman Reflects On His Heartbreaking Path To Fatherhood And Adoption
Hollywood hunk Hugh Jackman has been married to Deborra-Lee Furness since 1996 and they always seem like the most loving couple around. But what we don't see behind their dazzling smiles is a painful road to parenthood, which is paved with two painful miscarriages.
Hugh reflected on those difficult times in an interview with Daily Mail:
It was painful. It's not easy. You put a lot of time and effort into it, so it's emotional.
However, failed attempts at having children naturally didn't bring the couple down, they found a way to become parents and settled on adoption. Hugh and Deborra-Lee first welcomed their son Oscar Maximilian in 2000, and then also adopted daughter Ava Eliot in 2005.
Family they were meant to have
Now, Jackman and Furness are happier than ever, and Hugh wouldn't change a thing about his family. The famous actor rejects the idea of referring to his children as 'adopted' and doesn't even view them as not his own:
From the moment we started the adoption process, all the anxiety went away. I don't think of them as adopted - they're our children.
Jackman says that although he and Deborra-Lee don't have biological children, they know Oscar and Ava were supposed to be in their life as they are big believers in destiny.

We can certainly see how much Hugh cares about his kids. Just look how sweet he is with his daughter!

X-Men star also teaches his children the same values he was brought up with. As a dedicated charity worker, Hugh wants Oscar and Ava to remember that although they're growing up privileged, they must never forget the importance of giving back.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee certainly have lovely children that will certainly grow up to be incredible people thanks to their mom and dad!
