Last night, Prince Charles held a private party at Buckingham Palace for royal family members to celebrate his 70th birthday.
In the photo below, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are seen getting ready for their special evening.
At the family party, The Queen gave an emotional speech paying tribute to her son. The full text of the speech was uploaded to the official website of the Home of the Royal Family.
First of all, she mentioned that it was a privilege for her, as a mother, to honour Prince Charles on such an occasion:
It is a privilege for any mother to be able to propose a toast to her son on his 70th birthday. It means that you have lived long enough to see your child grow up. It is rather like — to use an analogy I am certain will find favour — planting a tree and being able to watch it grow.
Her Majesty described The Prince as “passionate”, “creative” and as “a duchy original”.— The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) 14 November 2018

The Queen remembered the time when she was also 70 years-old, and her mother gave her speech, adding that at this age, it takes too much effort to blow out the birthday candles. Over this period, Prince Charles has become a great leader, devoted husband and father, and just a good person:
My mother saw me turn 70, of course. And she was heard to observe that 70 is exactly the age when the number of candles on your cake finally exceeds the amount of breath you have to blow them out. Over his 70 years, Philip and I have seen Charles become a champion of conservation and the arts, a great charitable leader — a dedicated and respected heir to the throne to stand comparison with any in history — and a wonderful father.

In addition, the Queen mentioned Prince Charles’ wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, giving her the highest seal of approval:
Most of all, sustained by his wife Camilla, he is his own man, passionate and creative. So this toast is to wish a happy birthday to my son, in every respect a duchy original. To you Charles. To the Prince of Wales.

You deserve these moments dear lady. It's the universe saying thank you for all you have done and the manner and grace with which you have done it.— MonMonMamaB (@MoniqueBeazley) 14 November 2018
The universe doesn’t grant a lot of mothers the opportunity to see their children to age 70 and their children’s children grow up. Congratulations to Prince Charles on his 70th birthday and this special occasion for Queen Elizabeth. Once a mother always a mother. ❤️— Lisa Boyd-Devers (@lisaboyddevers) 14 November 2018
It is a privilege to witness the evolution of love in your family, even under the microscope of the world's curiosity. We are so blessed to know of your legacy, Your Majesty. Long live HRH Prince Charles.— AF5 (@friend0fmine) 14 November 2018
