A new book, The World According to Tom Hanks, is revealing the struggles the star actor faced for years because he lacked confidence as a young boy well into manhood.

In the book, the Forest Gump actor says he grew up a geek and was desperately lonely as a child. His mom also moved around a lot with him after she got divorced from his dad. He had no clue what to do when it came to charming the ladies.
His wife freed him from sexual insecurities
But, his worst insecurities were about his sexuality. He lacked sexual confidence and suffered even while he was famous as a result of this until he met his second and present wife Rita Wilson.
The book's biographer Gavin Edwards quotes Hanks as saying,
For years I had no sexual confidence, for years I was lonely.
According to the book, it was Wilson's love that saved Tom Hanks and freed him to be himself sexually. Fun fact as detailed in the book: The actor and dad of four is now so free that he has become a practicing nudist.
He prefers to walk around naked on hotel room patios. This is reportedly when he feels most powerful and anonymous.
