For a very long time, Mark Harmon popular for his role as Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS has been the face of the popular CBS series.

At the end of every season of the show, questions come up about how long Mark will continue to play the iconic character Agent Gibbs. Even rumors and speculations begin to swirl about his exit from the show.
Speaking to People about those rumors, Mark said he is not ready to leave NCIS. However, he does know when it’s time to give up playing Agent Gibbs. He said:
I’ve always thought if there’s ever a time where the writers are walking into the room and going ‘I don’t know what to do,’ then I think we all have to look at each other and call it a day. But we’re not there yet.
The truth is the audience can’t imagine the series without him. If you are a fan as we are, can you stand to see Agent Gibbs go?
Why Mark may leave
There have often been speculations that Mark may leave the show, but the actor is dedicated to his role of Gibbs. However, he has revealed one major detail that would make him to walk away from the series.
Speaking in an interview with TV Insider, Mark said he would leave NCIS if the writers lost their magic.
Right now our writers are all very up and excited. You can see it on their faces. Now, if I ever witness them walking into the writers’ room with their heads down, feeling they’ve done it all, that would be the time to say, “I think I’m done here.

He leaves NCIS for a break
Mark at some point decided to take a break from the show to focus more on his personal life.
He and his charming wife, Pam Dawber, planned a European getaway to spend time together and celebrate their anniversary away from prying eyes. How romantic is that!

It is a great time for the actor to get some rest after decades of TV drama. The NCIS star explained that his little break doesn’t mean he won’t return to the series at all.
