Meghan and Harry will have lots of loving faces surrounding them on their wedding day.
And while Prince Harry will have his big brother as his best man, who will put on Meghan’s maid of honor’s shoes?
The answer is simple: no one.
Yes, you read it right, Meghan Markle will not have a maid of honor at her wedding. And the reason is the same as why a mother refuses to pick her favorite child – she doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
A palace spokesman announced on Friday:
She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn’t want to choose one over another. All have been actively involved in helping her prepare for the day and will be there in the days beforehand. She’s very happy to have their support.
For Harry, it was a lot easier to pick best man, as his brother had no competition for this role. It’s only fair, considering that Harry was best man for Prince William’s wedding back in 2011.
The Duchess of Cambridge also chose her own blood, her sister Pippa, to be by her side, but we never expected Meghan to follow her footsteps and invite her half-sister Samantha Markle to fulfill maid of honor duties, as she wasn’t even invited to the wedding.
Nonetheless, both of Meghan’s parents will be present at the wedding and play a part in the official procession. As for the bride’s close friends, it is expected that Meghan’s inner circle will include actress Priyanka Chopra, stylist Jessica Mulroney, college pal Lindsay Roth, and designer Misha Nonoo.
The palace previously revealed that Markle will be joined by bridal party members, who traditionally have younger attendants acting as page boys and bridesmaids.
Many think that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be the lucky ones to play those roles, but the names will be revealed a few days before the wedding.
