Like Mother, Like Son? Céline Dion’s Eldest Son René-Charles Angélil Covers The Weeknd’s Songs Under Fake Name
Music is definitely running in Céline Dion’s family blood.
Her eldest son, René-Charles Angélil, is breaking the music charts, as he dropped two songs on SoundCloud.
The 17-year-old has all grown up now, and it seems that he decided to follow his famous mom’s footsteps. Angélil made cover versions of two songs by The Weeknd under the pseudonym Big Tip. They are now number 1 and number 2 on R&B & Soul New & Hot chart.
The musician took to Instagram to share his excitement, posting a screenshot of the songs on SoundCloud.
He captured it with:
I woke up like dis…. #ChartTopper.
Angélil is the oldest son of Céline Dion and her late husband René Angélil, who passed away in January 2016 after a long battle with cancer. The couple has three children together, including twin boys Eddy and Nelson, who were born in October 2010.
Eddy was named after Dion's favorite songwriter, Eddy Marnay, and Nelson after the former South African President Nelson Mandela.
The My Heart Will Go On singer gave her sons credit for helping her to cope with her husband’s death. She said:
They are helping me, I am helping them — it’s mutual. What makes me most proud is to be a mother, I have three magnificent kids, that through them, I see my husband and I have the strength today to keep dressing up.
René-Charles even gave a touching and emotional eulogy during his father’s funeral in 2016. After releasing his hit singles, Angélil outlined some of his priorities, saying he puts his family first and his music second.
