What happened?

When she was 18, Lady Amelia Spencer was charged with drunkenly assaulting a man on crutches. The man, Ricci Cinti, accused her in flicking a cigarette at him before kicking him during a row outside a McDonald's restaurant.

According to Cinti, his taxi swerved in front of Amelia’s car in a queue for the restaurant, to which the student reacted with a foul-mouthed tirade and flickered a cigarette at him through the car’s open window.

How the case ended?

Princess Diana’s niece was lucky to escape the punishment as the prosecutors had agreed to drop the case after deciding there was not enough evidence against her and Mr. Cinti’s account of events was thought to be inconsistent.

Lady Amelia was accompanied to court by her mother Victoria Lockwood, who gave her a hug after hearing the prosecutors’ decision.
