The Queen of Opera, Montserrat Caballé, is, sadly, not with us anymore. The singer was taken to hospital in September, following a stroke she had back in 2012. She passed away on October 6, aged 85.

Aside from giving her heart and voice to the opera, Montserrat Caballé was immortalized beyond this genre when she performed a duet with Freddie Mercury, Barcelona. The Queen’s frontman was a huge fan of opera, particularly of Caballé’s stunning vocals.

When the opera diva was asked to help produce a song for the 1992 Summer Olympics, which Barcelona was chosen to host, she summoned Mercury to help her. The song named Barcelona, co-written by Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran, became a huge hit and one of the biggest successes in Mercury's solo career.

It reached the 8th position in UK Singles Chart and after Mercury's death in 1991, it was played at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Let's remember the iconic duet of the two late singers, the vocalist Freddie Mercury and operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé, performing Barcelona.
