According to the princess’ former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, Diana was the one who decided to put an official end to her marriage. Wharfe claims it was extremely hard for the royal to deal with her husband’s affair and constant stalking of the photographers, she couldn’t deal with it anymore. However, Diana’s former personal trainer thinks slightly different.

Did Diana want the divorce?

Jenni Rivett, who was Lady Di’s personal trainer for a few years since 1991, claimed that workouts helped the royal to overcome her eating disorder and deal with the heartache she had to face after her separation from Prince Charles.

Speaking to Yahoo News' series The Royal Box, Rivett revealed that the Princess of Wales didn’t want the divorce to happen. She said:

Given the choice, she would have stayed and tried to make a happy marriage. She loved Charles.

According to Rivett, Lady Di married for love, and she wasn’t the one who wanted to separate or have a divorce. Although the personal trainer thinks it was a mutual decision, she believes it wasn’t what Diana wanted.
