How do they know each other?

Banderas and Madonna were actually co-stars at one point. In 1996, they both played in the musical drama Evita, which was based on the 1976 album that has the same name. It was produced by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The album also inspired a 1978 musical.

In the film, the pop icon portrayed Eva Péron, whose life is the main focus of the plot. It depicts Péron’s rise to fame, political career, and untimely death at 33 years old. Banderas played Argentinian everyman Ché, who is also a narrator of the story.
