Never-Ending Love: Mary Steenburgen Says Even After 25 Years Ted Danson Still Calls Her Beautiful Every Single Day
Even before the two locked their eyes on each other, Mary Steenburgen was a big fan of Ted Danson. When she was feeling sad or lonely, she would tune in to Cheers to brighten up her day.
Mary and Ted met back in 1993 on the set of the film Pontiac Moon. At that time, Danson was going through a difficult period in his life amid a divorce from his second wife and a heart-breaking end of his 18 months relationship with Whoopi Goldberg.
The actor recently admitted:
I was a mess-and-a-half. I thought, I'm incapable of being in a relationship. But I was working on myself. Ironic how life works in those moments. Once you throw your arms up and surrender, a lot of times things come your way.
And that's when "the love of his life" walked in.
Mary, a single mom, also had been experiencing some difficulties, as her father was in poor health and had several heart attacks.
Since the couple wed in 1995, two years after their first meeting, they have starred in many more shows and movies but were always able to find time for each other.
Indeed, after 22 years of marriage, Ted and Mary are still madly in love. The 70-year-old actor once said:
I don't think you're supposed to say this when you're almost 70, but she's very sexy.
What’s their secret? As it turned out, Ted knows exactly how to make his wife happy.
The 65-year-old Steenburgen shared:
He does tell me every single day of my life I’m beautiful, and I do know a lot of women live without that. And it does matter, someone just telling you that.
After all, women do like hearing compliments, so maybe Danson cracked the code of happy marriage.
