Tom Daley Revealed He Always Wanted To Be A Father And Feared That Coming Out Meant He Couldn’t Have A Family
It looks like the dreams are coming true for the Olympic swimmer Tom Daley. Recently, he welcomed a baby boy with his husband, filmmaker Dustin Lance Black, and the couple couldn’t be happier to finally become parents.
Tom and Dustin are now daddies to a sweet baby boy, who entered this world with the help of a surrogate. The couple named their son Robert Ray Black-Daley but it’s not just the name they both liked. Robert was Tom’s father’s name, who passed away from cancer 7 years ago.
Black took to Instagram to post an adorable photo of little Robbie with the heart-melting message, which said:
Welcome to the world little Robbie Ray. Thank you for bringing so much love and light with you…
In his interview with The Guardian, Daley admitted that being a dad was his dream since he was “17 or 18.” He said:
There’s nothing I’ve ever been more sure of in my life than having a family.
But Tom was afraid his dream will never come true after coming out.
One of the things I was so mortified about, so upset about, when I came out, was that I’d never be able to have a family.
However, after doing more research on the matter, he learned that everything is possible and now he is a loving dad to an adorable baby boy.
Dad bod or not
There is one thing we can be sure about when it comes to daddy Tom - he will never have a “dad bod.” The Olympian has been sharing quick summer workout videos for those who are not fond of the gym and don't have a lot of time to dedicate to staying fit.
Well done, Tom! We are definitely inspired to workout more.
