The 70-year-old wife of Prince Charles has been often spotted wearing the same Chanel shoes. While some may think it’s just her style preference, the classy-looking footwear may have a special meaning behind them.

According to a historic observation, made by Princess Diana, the shoes may be a nod to Camilla and Charles’s romance.

An affair to remember

On April 9 this year, Duchess Camilla and Prince Charles celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. But their affair has started more than 40 years ago.

Then Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles had an affair in 1986, while they were both married to other people. Princess Diana divorced Charles in 1996 and since then she, reportedly, refused to wear Chanel.

Chanel no more

According to Diana, the brand had a special significance for Charles and Camilla. She revealed her thoughts to designer Jayson Brundson, who styled her look for a visit to an Australian hospital.

He chose a pair of Chanel shoes to complete her outfit, but the Princess of Wales refused to wear them. Brundson later told Harper’s Bazaar:

I went through them all and I found a pair of Chanel shoes. I said, ‘well these would look great with the Versace’ and she said ‘no, I can’t wear linked Cs, the double C. So I asked why, and she said, ‘it’s Camilla and Charles’.

The significance of Cs might be recognized by Camilla herself as she has been seen wearing the pumps from this famous brand since 2005.

Significant or not, the shoes fit perfectly the Duchess’ style.
