On July 10, the members of the British royal family gathered together to celebrate the Royal Air Force’s 100th Anniversary.

The Royal Family has quite a special relationship with the Royal Air Force as many generations of royals have served or trained with the RAF. The most famous family in the world arrived as a united front, looking as chic as ever.

Many eyes were glued to the new member of the family, the Duchess of Sussex. Even though Meghan looked undeniably pretty, the eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed something strange about her outfit, in comparison to other royal women.

Why no brooch?

The new Duchess arrived parading a gorgeous navy blue Dior piece. But her dress didn’t feature any brooch, whilst other royal ladies decorated theirs with a beautiful accessory. As it turned out, it wasn’t Meghan’s fashion choice. And no, she didn’t break any rules as many would think.

Duchess Catherine sported a jeweled brooch, which is actually not your regular accessory. It is the highest award a female cadet can be presented with since 1982. Despite that Kate is not a cadet, she received the prestigious brooch as a gift from cadets after becoming Honorary Air Commandant of the organization.

The Queen, the Duchess of Cornwall, and other royal women wore brooches, which they were giving after receiving their positions at RAF.

Even though Meghan doesn’t hold any position at the organization yet, she is expected to receive an honor someday as her husband, Prince Harry, served in the army.

Brooch or not, Meghan still looked stunning, as usual.
