‘I Don’t Accept This Is The End’: ‘Chicago Fire’ Director Breaks Silence On Monica Raymund's Leaving

Date May 23, 2018

When actors decide to leave the cast, it’s hard to say goodbye to favorite characters they were playing. Just recently, the ‘Chicago Fire’ star, Monica Raymund, has announced she will not be back in season 7 of the show.

The actress has been starring in the series since 2012, so it’s no wonder her character, Gabby Dawson, will be missed. Or is there any possibility that the Dawsey's flame will still keep burning?

Derek Haas, the director of the show, has something to say about Raymund’s departure. He took to Twitter and broke his silence by revealing that Monica had, in fact, let them know beforehand that she was going to leave.

But Haas still doesn’t want to believe that season 6 finale was the last time we saw Gabby. As he says:

Monica is amazing, and I don’t accept this is the end for her character.

Is he hinting about a possible recast? No, casting a new actress is not an option. But the director has some plans as for the Dawson-Casey storyline.

As we know, during the finale, the two disagreed about having kids, and Gabby decided to take a job offer in Puerto Rico. And this is how Haas sees it:

I would love to be able to go to Puerto Rice and shoot for a week. Get Casey there, have Dawson there, but I can’t make any promises.
