Queen Maxima Tearfully Opens Up About Her Sister's Suicide: "She Was Unable To Find Happiness"

Date June 20, 2018

At the beginning of June, the royal family in the Netherlands was rocked by a terrible loss. Inés, the 33-year-old sister of Queen Maxima, was found dead at her apartment in Argentina.

Her death was named a suicide, as she was found hanged at her home. Following the sad and heartbreaking news, Queen Maxima cancelled all of her upcoming official engagements and a scheduled appearance at Holland Festival. Instead, she flew to Buenos Aires to be with her family.

And now, the royal is finally ready to open up about her loss and pay tribute to her sibling. Just recently, the Dutch Queen has visited a proton therapy center in the northern Netherlands that helps cancer patients not to lose hope to recover.

It was known that Maxima's sister, who worked as a psychologist, suffered from mental health issues and depression. As the Queen said:

She was unable to find happiness and sadly couldn't get better.

Now, the grief-stricken royal’s only consolation is to hope that Ines will find happiness and peace after death. Maxima also thanked all the royal family fans and well-wishers who supported her in her loss by sending posts with warm words and condolences.

Even weeks after Ines’ death, people still leave messages on various social media platforms. Still, some believe that the woman will not find peace because she ended her life.

This is the second tragedy for Queen Maxima. She buried her father last year after his long battle with cancer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dutch royal family!
