Must Duchess Meghan Curtsy To Princess Eugenie Or Is It The Other Way Around?

Date June 13, 2018

Without any doubt, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan had much to do on their wedding day, from entreating the guests to posing for official wedding photographs. But for the American beauty, there was one more important thing to remember – to curtsy to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

Why so?

Like Meghan, Duchess Catherine was born a commoner, which might bring confusion to the protocol. But according to the rules updated in 2012, the 36-year-old will always have to curtsy to Kate because she’s married to the future king.

What about other royal ladies?

Here, it gets even more confusing. Meghan has to curtsy to the monarch and Duchess Camilla. But it’s not as simple when it comes to blood princesses. For example, as Princess Eugenie is of superior rank to Meghan, she will have to perform the gesture. But if her husband Harry is present, it is the other way around.

Since the rule is confusing, we just hope it will not cause disputes between the two royal beauties. Earlier, there have been rumors that Princess Eugenie has biases against the former actress.

Some said it was because of Meghan’s background. Others believed it was because Eugenie had to move her wedding date because of Harry and his beloved.
