For the NCIS star David McCallum, it was not easy to get candid about a tragedy that turned his entire life upside down. Decades later, the actor finally opened up on the passing of his beloved adopted son, Jason.
A doting dad
David McCallum made his breakthrough on television back in the 1960s after his appearance in the iconic series The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Later, the actor enlarged his army of fans since he joined the cast of the people’s favorite series NCIS.
David is a father of five. He has two sons with his first wife, actress Jill Ireland, and two more kids with his second wife, Katherine Carpenter. David and Jill’s third adopted son sadly passed away at the age of 27.

Only decades after Jason’s passing, the NCIS actor broke his silence on how he managed to deal with his kid’s demise.
My abiding regret is that I wasn’t there for him during that time.
David and Jill filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage. David had moved from California to New York. The actor explained that, in some extent, he lost bond with his kids at that time.
I lost touch with them and control of what was happening there.
Going through this
It was hard for McCallum to deal with Jason’s passing. Only his family’s support and intense work helped him get rid of prostration.
Nowadays, the actor can openly speak about his late son.
Jason surprised and delighted us and he was one of the most wonderful people you could ever hope to meet.
It’s always heartbreaking to lose our loved ones. David McCallum could find the inner strength to keep living and working, and he deserves the highest admiration for this.
